When taking a sauna & hot tub soaking—the light show is good for you
Travel back in history about 2,500 years. You’d discover something fascinating—colored light therapy was being used to aid in healing in ancient civilizations in China, Egypt & India. Color halls were created by Pythagoras for healing. In fact, in Egypt practitioners built specially designed solariums with glass and lenses designed to break up sunlight into the colors of the spectrum.
More research has been done over the last 50 years showing that exposure to certain colors assist in overall health and balance.
Today hot tubs and saunas utilize multi-colored lighting mainly for its visual enhancements and for added entertainment while soaking or taking a sauna. The lighting in your tub or sauna could also have some therapeutic benefits as well. Surrounding yourself with a particular color—known as chromotherapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromotherapy )–while enjoying your hot tub or sauna may be just what the doctor ordered! Take a look at the list below, and consider setting your tub or sauna lighting to one of these hues:
¶ Violet—Often used to soothe organs, calm your nervous system & relax your muscles.
¶ Blue—Not only shown to enhance communication and knowledge, blue may help eliminate toxins.
¶ Green—This is the color associated with balance. Green is also associated with antibacterial properties.
¶ Yellow—Also known for its antibacterial properties, it may also aid with digestion and lymphatic systems.
¶ Red—The energy color, thought to improve circulation and promote the production of red blood cells.
