The older we get, the faster the years seem to fly by! Can you believe 2014 is upon us?
As we all get ready to bid farewell to 2013, take a moment to sit down and write down five things you’d like to focus on to improve yourself in the next year. I don’t like to call these resolutions. Those just seem too easy to break. Instead, consider these five things you’d like to promise yourself to give new focus, or focus on for the first time in your life.
Of course, a lot of things immediately come to everyone’s mind—losing weight, getting in shape, getting organized…blah blah blah. Here are some ideas of things you might want to promise to give new focus in the coming year:
- Spending more time with loved ones
- Re-connecting with someone from your past you regretted you lost touch
- Giving yourself permission to relax
- Disconnecting from all electronic devices for two hours minimum each day
- Giving more to those less fortunate
- Creating a new giving plan to a deserving non-profit
- Visiting a city or country for the first time
These are just a few options…you get the idea.
Once you get your five focuses written down, memorize them and keep them in mind. On New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day, cement your commitment to those five things by spending time in your hot tub or sauna reflecting on them. By taking the time to free your mind and allow some “me time” to give each of those five things some “mind time”, you’ll discover it will give you some great ideas on how to achieve each one. Hot tubs and saunas are great for relaxation, true—but they’re also excellent “think tanks”. Some of your best ideas can emerge while soaking in your hot tub, or during a peaceful sauna session!
