In a bad mood? Soak in your hot tub

Hey, we’ve all been there. You get up in the morning, and you’re just not quite ready to face the day. Or…something happens and just puts you off your game for the rest of the night. The next time you feel a dark mood coming on…get thee to your hot tub!

There’s a very good reason that most people immerse themselves in a hot tub and utter that “Aahhhh…” The heat envelopes you, the water sets your body afloat, releasing the tension of the day and in your muscles. Then, the heat elevates your core body temperature, inducing a flood of endorphins—the body’s natural “good mood” stimulators. The release of endorphins also help counteract the negative effects of stress—one of the top causes of the onslaught of a bad mood. They also help boost your body’s immune defenses to ward off sickness.

Other things known to encourage endorphin production (in no particular order!): chocolate, prolonged exercise, chili peppers, and sexual activity. The combination of any of these—along with, of course, regular hot tub use—will do much to stave off any desire to become Gloomy McGloomster for sure!
