FAREWELL TO A TRUE RENAISSANCE MAN

On July 4th, Oregon Hot Tub lost one of its family. We are sincerely heart-broken in announcing that Paolo Weatherbee, our Valet Technician in the Portland area, has passed away.

While many of us at Oregon Hot Tub knew Paolo well, after reading his heart-felt obituary (the Oregonian July 18th, 2010)–which truly captures the essence of Paolo–we were extremely impressed by Paolo’s accomplishments-pilot, aviation electronics technician, certified open water diver, musician, BA in Geography, one course shy of obtaining a graduate degree in Geographic Information Systems from PSU, Coast Guard petty officer, navigator, radioman, and Bering Sea rescuer.

Reflecting on all that Paolo accomplished not only provides us with a better glimpse into Paolo’s life, but an opportunity for self-reflection-perhaps realizing that we have potential to be and experience so much more if we invest the time and energy and have a carpe-diem approach to life.

Paolo was an amazing person and lived life to the fullest. He was a true Renaissance Man. We are all better for having known him, and we wish his family our deepest condolences. We miss Paolo, but we know he is happy–once again able to embrace the daughter he loved so deeply. He leaves behind his fiancée, Tory Shirley, and her children, Eleanor and William. Rest in peace, Paolo.

A benefit to help with the family’s expenses will be held Aug. 29th at the Bossanova Ballroom, 722 East Burnside St. in Portland. See www.mountainstomp.com for upcoming details.
